Hmmm...definitely interested. Other than a helmet, what other gear is needed? Elbow/knee pads? Gloves? Do mountain bikes have clips? Clearly I'm a little green in this department...

Just a helmet and gloves. I'm sure we'll be sticking to non-technical trails to start with.

Oops...and yes clippless. Do you have spin shoes? If you do they're probably SPD.

Yeah, I have spin shoes with SPDs. Assuming I can find them, that is.

I use rigid toe cages with no strap, and running shoes. I feel more confident I can escape the pedals on short notice. But I'm pretty bad technically.

V-You can go with toe cages, I find them harder to get in and out of. Besides, when you fall over in the woods, its not nearly as bad as hitting pavement. If you find your shoes, I have SPD pedals you can borrow. I don't have any toe cages. Sounds like we might have one person ready!

Toe cages definitely take a little more time to get back in but for me it was more about getting out. SPD type pedals give you more power on the up stroke.

You really have to decide if you can go over, or up what's in front of you, before you're half way up, or over what's in front of you.

Oh my! I think anything I say is going to sound bad in this context now, but I'm in for the ride and nothing too technical please!

I will word this carefully...
How about next weekend we do a ride, on a mountain bike, somewhere that's not technical. Anyone know of a place?

I checked out foxboro state forest and its really technical and hilly. We may want to try blue hills in milton. Is anyone familiar with the trails ? Bob ?

Are there rattle snakes at blue hills?

I've ridden a few times at the Blue Hills. It's really rocky at the top, but lots of easy trails around the base.
